I HELP BUSY WOMEN

(JUST LIKE YOU)

IMPROVE THEIR HEALTH

Nutrition science is always changing. The latest fads, trends, & quick fixes make it even more frustrating. I keep up-to-date with health & wellness research so that you’ll never have to buy another diet book or canned program again.

Hey there, I’m Sarah

I’m a Nationally Board-Certified Health Coach and Certified Personal Trainer who’s worked for the last 13 years helping women find their mojo . . . whether it’s been weight loss, food freedom, a combo of the two, the courage and know-how to strength train, find their way in the kitchen, balance a Big Job with a million responsibilities outside of work, find their way back after cancer treatment . . . Bottom line: My passion is empowering women to take charge of their health and wellness.

I’m also a 55-year old woman who struggled with her weight and body image her whole life. I was raised by role models who obsessively dieted, doing things like eating 700 calories/day, losing hair, getting (understandably) crabby - all in the name of becoming smaller.

It took me a long time to unwind that diet mentality and to understand that, in most cases, health and wellness are not born from extreme behaviors. I love to educate and empower women to learn what’s sustainable for them, individually, find their food freedom, and to step off the diet/no-diet merry-go-round for good.

Being a health coach was never in my plans, but my passion to help others find joy and peace with food and their bodies brought me here. Coach with me and discover a plan tailored JUST FOR YOU, without using any “potions, powders, or pills.” Together, we can find your wellness “sweet spot,” where you feel good in your own skin, your body is functioning in a healthy way, and you can maintain without being too restrictive, over-exercising, or sacrificing important time with friends and family.

My Food Philosophy

  • All foods can fit. I don’t believe in extreme eating or restrictive dieting.  I embrace the idea that you can enjoy all types of foods -- from avocados to apple pie - and that learning how to do this is part of creating your personalized formula for a healthy, active lifestyle.

  • Nourish in order to flourish. There's no denying that food provides you essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that allow you to live your best life. But food also provides pure pleasure!  I encourage food choices that fuel your body and your taste buds.

  • Don't stop until you get it, get it.  I understand . . . life happens.  But it’s about getting out of your own way to allow healthy habits to happen in a way that works for you, not against you.  Healthy eating isn’t an obligation, it’s an opportunity to feel your best - mentally and physically.

  • Do what works for YOU.  It’s not about what you “should” be doing or what's working well for the hottest wellness influencer, but about discovering a way of healthier eating and living that works for YOU.

I’ve got cred.

In 2010, I became certified as a personal trainer by the American College of Sports Medicine and formally launched Thrive Guide Health Coaching. I’ve practiced 1:1 coaching, led online group coaching series, taught cooking classes, and written articles on health and fitness topics for print publications and websites.

In January 2021, I decided to expand and deepen my knowledge of the coaching process and in December 2021 I completed the Integrative Health Coach Professional Training at Duke University and am certified by Duke as a Health & Well-Being Coach. In July 2022, I was certified by the NBHWC Certification Commission as a Nationally Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach - the highest standard for credentialing for health and wellness coaches in the United States.

How would it feel to look at yourself in the mirror and feel satisfied? Feel like there’s nothing imperfect, wrong, or shameful about your body? Maybe even love what you see? Feel confident, strong, empowered, and know that you’re doing all you can to maximize your health? I’ve taken the journey from self-loathing to self-satisfaction, and I can help you do it, too.
